The Diamond

This small work/maquette may someday have a title but for now it still a place that needs to be searched. I would ultimately like to create this on a larger scale. The sport of baseball has had such an influence on me and into this small work. It even has more relevance with my father passing away in September of 2020. Things like that stop you in your path and it makes you look back on the things that make you who you are and how you find your voice.

My dad taught me so much growing up. I didn’t realize how much he has influenced every aspect of my life from how I see the everyday, people, the way I make, and how to appreciate materials I use in my practice, and to enjoy the things I really love. One of the best things he taught me was to play catch. It created some of my favorite memories growing up and met many amazing people through the process of playing.

In creating this maquette, I hope the viewer can experience a new or familiar sensation of the subtle nuances of a field or game.
